Bearded Saints of Heaven and Warriors of the Lord. Sporters of Fantastic Beards and Words of Wisdom…
Let’s just say that the saints in Heaven know how to celebrate No-Shave November in quite classy ways.
1. Saint John the Baptist
2. Saint Augustine
Saint Augustine speaks for himself, saying, “The beard significance the courageous; the beard distinguishes the grown men, the earnest, the active, the vigorous. So that when we describe such, we say, he is a bearded man” (exposition on Psalm 133,6).
3. Saint Nicholas
In anticipation for the chilly December months ahead, Saint Nicholas also sported a beard while giving gifts to children and saving others from being pickled, not to mention laying down the law with some heretics. All in day’s work, Saint Nicholas. All in a day’s work.
4. Saint Jerome
5. Saint Paul
“Therefore, I urge you brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies [implied, beards] as a living sacrifice, holy, and pleasing to God – this is your spiritual act of worship.” (Romans 12:1)
6. Saint Joseph
Christ gazes lovingly at the beard of his foster father. Beards are Jesus approved.
7. Saint John Paul the Great
