The month of May is Mary’s month and we appropriately honor all mothers for who they are and what they have done for us during Mary’s month. As the mother of God, she deserves the greatest honor and thanks for her “yes” to God and his plan of salvation. Her “yes” allowed the Incarnation to come to fruition. She is the source of the humanity of Jesus and she is without a doubt the most wonderful creation of God. I mean, if you could create your own mother, wouldn’t you want her to be the most wonderful, most beautiful, and loveliest woman in history? I think so.
Throughout history, Mary has been the subject of many artistic and devotional representations. Pay attention to the images and their composition. They hold deep and beautiful theological and human truths.
