ALL ABOUT ANGELS

1. “biBLIcaLLy AcCuRAte AnGeLS”

Where does this phrase/meme come from? Here is an article that includes the relevant passages in the Bible that create the strange phrase and reference.

Biblically Accurate Angel

2. Catholic Word of the Day: angel

This word comes from the Greek angelos, which literally means “messenger,” and translated the Hebrew word mal’ak, which also means “messenger.” This does not refer to the nature, but to the function of these beings. Angels almost always are serving as messengers between God and humanity. Because what we call angels do not have bodies, they cannot be classified the same way as material creatures like plants, animals and humans.

3. What about Raphael?

While Raphael is included as one of the three archangels (though some Christian traditions acknowledge seven) along with Michael and Gabriel, he receives the least attention of the three because of his very sparse presence in the Bible. Raphael is only found in one book of the Bible, Tobit. It is one of the seven Deuterocanonical books, which means it is not even included in every Bible.

4. Tobit’s Dog – a novel

“This retelling of the biblical story of Tobit, set in North Carolina during the Depression, brings to life in surprising ways the beloved Old Testament characters, including the important but often overlooked family dog.” – from the Ignatius Press website

5. What about Guardian Angels?

This group of angels hold a special place from our perspective because of their closeness to us as humans, and to us as individuals. The Catechism of the Catholic Church refers to guardian angels only once in paragraph 335. Here is some great content from EpicPew about guardian angels to help you appreciate your own guardian angel better!
