This month marks the 80th anniversary of the release of Leaf by Niggle by J.R.R. Tolkien, originally published in the Dublin Review in January 1945. While this story is not as epic or as famous of Tolkien’s others (c’mon, you know what I’m talking about), this little story about this little man echoes in eternity for its beauty and profundity.
Here is an audiobook on YouTube. I would recommend having the text out while it plays. She gives some commentary, which is…fine, but you get the story.
