2. Photina’s Conversion
In John’s Gospel, Photina meets the Lord at the well. She has been married multiple times and currently living with a man who she is not married to. Her story sounds more modern than ancient. After speaking with Jesus, Photina returns to her town and shares about her encounter asking “could he possibly be the Christ?”. According to tradition, her conviction eventually leads her to receive martyrdom. Photina goes from living in sin to dying for the faith. She reminds us of the power of grace. As we continue to journey through Lent, we can turn our hearts anew back to the Lord like Photina and accept the grace God offers us.
