Every saint has a past. Every sinner has a future.
The Norbertine Fathers of St. Michael’s Abbey released the first episode of their film series “City of Saints” on Easter Sunday. The unprecedented seven part film series explores seven true stories of people striving for sainthood.
The Norbertine order consists of fifty priests and thirty seminarians who are preparing for priesthood. Father Pascal Nguyen, who is featured in the second film, describes a Norbertine as “a priest who serves the people of God from the fullness of his religious life, with an intimate relationship with both God and his community; whose life is enriched by a life devoted to both the Holy Eucharist, and the Blessed Virgin Mother.”
The episodes are about five minutes a piece, and each episode features one of the Norbertine priests and a saint that plays a role in the film. Some of the saints featured are household Catholic names, such as Saint Pope John Paul II, while others are less well known, such as Saint Norbert and Saint Pascal. Topics that are discussed in the film include pro-life issues, forgiveness, and vocations.
