Redeem Your Vision from the Effects of the Porn Culture

Chances are either you or someone you know has been affected by pornography. Chances are even greater still that even if you have never struggled or have never known someone who has struggled with pornography, you suffer from the far-reaching effects it has on culture. Both men and women suffer from addictions to pornography and the pornified culture it creates. But all hope is not lost.

Steve Pokorny has joined the ranks of Matt Fradd and the Fight the New Drug Movement (you’ll know them as the people with the “Porn Kills Love” shirts) with the debut of his book Redeemed Vision: Setting the Blind Free from the Pornified Culture.

This impressive volume covers the problem of the pornified vision, discovering the Divine Vision, changing the way we view the body, and how to end the porn epidemic, and includes additional resources.

Throughout the book, there are relevant quotes from great saints and theologians and Scripture verses. The entire book is steeped in the Faith and grounded in the Catechism of the Catholic Church and Theology of the Body.

Steve writes: “…we can come to a practical solution for overcoming the power of pornified images: Contemplating Christ and His Mother in sacred art– including art in which their exposed bodies point to Truth…Meditation on such images can help drive us deeper into the mystery of Christ. Just as the Israelites who looked upon the bronze serpent were cured of snakebite, meditation upon Mother and Child– and consequently, Bridegroom and Bride– will especially help heal us and inoculate us against the counterfeit images of the body and sex presented in pornography.”

Steve Pokorny is the founder of Freedom Coaching, which is a one-on-one mentoring system to help people break the addiction to pornography. His desire to write this book comes after years of working with men trying to be free from pornography and its effects and his own struggle with pornography for many years.

While pornography is the problem, Steve also looks at the effects of pornography– how we view the body– as the real issue that needs to change, and he offers a good path to do so.
