I love cats! I know not everyone loves cats, and I feel very sorry for those people. Cats are independent, curious, funny, playful and how can you not fall in love with this face?
Jesus is also called the Lion of Judah, in Revelation 5:5 “The Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered. . .” therefore, we shouldn’t dismiss these beautiful creatures so quickly. Here are some wonderful saints with their cats of all sizes.
St. Claire of Assisi
How could she not love cats when being friends with St. Francis and all of his animals.
St. Julian of Norwich
This is one happy cat!
Also this outstanding image of the saint:
See how happy the cat is?
St. Gertrude of Nivelles
I think I know why St. Gertrude loved her cats. Do you?
St. Martin de Porres
The Dominican lived with a dog, cat, bird and mouse. I bet they had a lot of fun playing together.
St. Modestos of Jerusalem
He is known for healing animals!
St. Jerome
He removed a thorn from the paw of a lion and in return, the lion served with him at the monastery! I wonder if that’s why everyone left him alone to translate the Bible?
Daniel
And one of the best stories in the Bible is Daniel being thrown in the lions den. (Check it out in Daniel 6.)
St. Francis of Assisi
We would be amiss if we didn’t include St. Francis, lover of all animals.
And of course these saints love their cats, too:
