There’s a secret that no one tells you about when it comes to wearing a religious habit. The POCKETS!
While women’s pants pockets are basically nonexistent, religious habits are making up for pocket inequality. But it’s not all sunshine. Sometimes all those pockets can get downright uncomfortable. In fact, some sisters have so many pockets, they accidentally sit on them.
I have pockets for daaaayyyyzzzz.

No, like, it can get uncomfortable.
I have so much pocket I sometimes accidentally sit on them! https://t.co/JVslGuPzrE
Here are just a few things that monks, brothers, sisters, and nuns can fit into their habit pockets:
1. Coffee mugs
I once discovered a coffee mug in my pocket at the end of the day. A senior sister was in danger of slipping and the mug was empty, so I tucked it away to give her a hand. Totally forgot about it. ☕ https://t.co/70Yfx0jwr6

2. DVDs
I can fit a dvd UNDETECTED in one of my habit pockets. (Which is handy for a #MediaNun)

3. Large cookie sheets
I fit a very large cookie sheet (empty, perfect for sledding) beneath my scapular today. Walked away undetected and gave the tray to the interns to go sledding!

4. Full sized Bibles
fwiw, I can fit a regular size Bible in a chest pocket of my one habit.

We’re not saying you should let the size of those pockets influence your vocational discernment. But if you’re frustrated with the lack of pockets in your clothing, a religious habit may be just the answer you’re looking for!
